North Hampshire now has a growing Junior Badminton Club in Fleet coached by two former senior international players. Ex-England International and Team GB Olympian Sarah Chapman (nee Hardaker) and ex-Poland International player Tek Poszelezny have joined together to create North Hants Junior Badminton Club that not only welcomes Beginners to our sport but is also focused on supporting talented players to raise their game to the next level.
Both Sarah and Tek are very experienced Badminton England Level 2 coaches. Combined with their former senior international playing experience they are able to support young players to improve their badminton skills as well as developing their all-round good sportsmanship and personal development. We play at Calthorpe Park School in Fleet and have 4 courts on a Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening. The courts are excellent and we play exclusively with feather shuttles. We are fortunate that we also have two support coaches and most sessions can offer a coach: player ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 helping our players to make great progress.
We welcome players aged between 7 and 15 and there are currently 2 squads, Beginners and Development, and our goal is to create a Performance Squad to enhance the development of players living in and around north Hampshire. Our club atmosphere is one of fun and enjoyment whilst encouraging high-level play and healthy competition. Sarah won more than 40 England International caps and had a career high world ranking inside the top-10 and Tek has competed for Poland and continues to play in the competitive German Bundesliga.
